What every young person in Saigon always looks forward to is that every time they come home from school, they hang out with their homies to sit and chat. For homely people, there are sidewalk lemon tea shops, milk tea shops. For luxury one, there are many, fast food restaurants, hot pot and barbecue. Even to be more bustling, there are many bars, clubs and pubs always open to welcome. Saigon at night really has everything; there are family love, couple love or even friendship. Saigon's night is strangely beautiful. Filled with street lights perhaps there are so many youth stories of so many people.
The childhood of young people in the old Saigon is such something very memorable that even though I have not experienced it, I can still feel it. Every afternoon, neighbors gather with each other, for the boys, they play soccer and a shuttlecock; for girls, they jump rope and play roller balls. Those smiles at that time may not be able to forget or even have them when we grow up. Childhood friends are true friendships because of how pure and naive they are. It's really unrelated but you should watch "Reply 1988" because after watching it the childhood memories and emotions I just mentioned will massively rush to you!

When Saigon lights up, it's also the time for everyone to leave work and the indispensable thing to do is go for a drink. There are plenty of pubs and beer bars in Saigon and they are always crowded. Drinking is so popular in Vietnam that there's even a separate word in Vietnamese just emphasize it - "Nháºu". Drinking is not only for slaking but also a time to meet friends, colleagues or even to sign a contract with a partner, so this is a culture that will probably never be lacking in people living in Saigon.
Drinking in the past is probably the same as it is now, but it happened in very simple and cheap pubs. Even so, that oldness brings something extraordinary warmth that nowhere you can find it.
