Absolutely anyone who has been in Saigon long enough know that milk tea and coffee are two indispensable things for young people in this land. Every morning, before classes, in the afternoon, after school or even at hangouts, perhaps the cups of Phuc Long milk tea or The Coffee House cups of tea are probably no longer strange things. Not only to keep awake, but it is like a usual habit of students in Saigon. In the middle of a bustling urban place like Saigon, there is nothing better than finding a quiet, poetic place like milk tea or coffee shop that pupils or students are able to concentrate on studying or running deadlines.
How long has it been since you enjoyed a glass of cold sugarcane juice in front of the school gate? right! When it comes to this, young Saigon people definitely remember that feeling. Sugarcane juice was a very long time ago another very popular dish and still perhaps so today. 30 to 40 years ago, we could easily see students sitting in front of a sugarcane juice cart instead of a glass of Starbuck or Phuc Long like now. Something that is both sweet and cool, but also extremely cheap and good for health, why don’t you grab one ?

Perhaps in this bustling urban place, one of the best things that a person can enjoy every morning is probably coffee. Disparate from Phuc Long and The Coffee House coffees of young people, adults here prefer the feeling of drinking homemade filter coffee at home or at a roadside shop. A cup of coffee with a newspaper or news on TV is what makes for a great morning to kick off for a long day of work ahead. Coffee filter is not only a beverage anymore, it has became a long-standing tradition of each Vietnamese people so that their morning can be plenary.
Unlike today, Cà phê vợt is exactly what the old Saigon people called for every morning. it's a type of neil drip coffee in Vietnamese style that makes it extremely popular all over Saigon at that time. Every morning when you wake up, mixing with the early morning mist is the smoke of coffee brewed by the baristas by putting coffee powder in a filter bag like the shape of a racket, that's why people dearly give it a special name "cà phê vợt". Its taste will really level up your morning. Currently, somewhere in a modern Saigon, there are still many places that make this drink, perhaps they do not want to lose this gorgeous tradition in the past.
